THE DOG’S BLOG

(as discovered by the owners dog Benji)

Dogs are welcome at Riverside Lodge but we do ask that you keep them off the furniture. Also they must be kept on a lead around the Park and always clean up after them.

Benji recommends the following

The Dog Field

Great place to have a run and meet other usually friendly dogs ! Lots of interesting sniffs. Must remember to tell your owner to clean up after you as you don’t want other owners stepping in it and stopping the field being a pleasant place to walk.

Walks

Lots of great walks from right outside the front door – you don’t even have to go in the car. Some take you along footpaths up over the fells behind the Park, others can take you to Troutbeck village where there are two pubs that welcome dogs ! Maps and books are in the lodge for ideas, nearby and further afield.

Places that are Dog Friendly

All steamers on the Lakes allow dogs.

Boat Hire companies usually allow you to take dogs

Ravenglass and Eskdale railway and Haverthwaite Railway

Muncaster Castle (in grounds but not in the house)

Most pubs now allow dogs in the bar areas but some still don’t. These are some of my favourites that definitely allow me in:

The Queen’s Head (Troutbeck)

The Mortal Man (Troutbeck)

The Talbot (Skelwith Bridge)

The Britannia (Elterwater)

The Three Shires (Little Langdale)

The Tower Bank Arms (Near Sawrey)
